Last Gasp will publish a new paperback edition of Suehiro Maruo’s The Strange Tale of Panorama Island, which appears to currently be out of print. Originally published by Last Gasp as a hardcover in 2013, the standalone manga is based on a novella by Japanese mystery writer Edogawa Rampo (a pseudonym based on "Edgar Allan Poe"). The manga won the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize for Best New Artist in Japan and was nominated for a 2014 Eisner Award when it was first published in the U.S. The 276-page paperback, rated for mature readers, will be released in May 2025 with an MSRP of $24.95.
Last Gasp’s plans for 2025 also include a new hardcover edition of Barefoot Gen, with an afterword by Raina Telegmeier (see "New Edition of ‘Barefoot Gen’") and the second and third volumes of Keiichi Koike’s psychedelic manga Ultra Heaven (see "Last Gasp Licenses Ultra Heaven').
